. . . can I get a Tanqueray on the rocks with a twist over here, the young lady will have a sarsparilla . . . [DESCRIPTION BY UNCLE RICKY - CONTRIBUTED and RESTORED BY ROB FRANKEL] Certainly, an element of the wizardry of the late Bobby "Wizard" Wayne was brevity, and that is clearly demonstrated here in this RESTORED aircheck from WCBS-FM. The jingle says it's Monday, the contributor says it was July 12, 1971. Wayne was the essence of hip, New York style, and WCBS-FM was an inspired blend of contemporary music, traditional production values, and exceptional personality and there is not ONE music-to-music segue in this exhibit. This is one of the "hippest" almost Top-40 airchecks you'll hear, and Bobby talks between every record even when the segue was so awesome it could stand alone. Of course, for this presentation, we've lost several minutes of uninteresting commercial announcements (keeping only a few of the nicer ones), and the news, so what you hear here is truly magic, as The Wizard would have wanted. Listen for The Magic Wizard Sound throughout, it's REALLY cool and can happen anytime! Also, notice the way Bobby says "restaurants" (the correct way), and someone tell all - what about living in The Seville Hotel on the fashionable East Side for West Side prices? This is another flawless restoration and Part One of a Three-Part exhibit courtesy of Restorian Rob Frankel. Thank you, Rob! (Part One) | |
